LONGITUDE: 173.741712
KEY OBJECTIVES
Reduce sand dune damage
Repair and stabilize sand dunes

Stabilize road entrance via Seaview Road
Reduce coastal erosion
THE CHALLENGE
Reintegration and protection of the sand dunes at Baylys Beach is a challenging task with unrelenting New Zealand west coast seas battering the coastline daily.
Due to the harsh environments, there is substantial coastal erosion. The sand dunes and entranceway via Seaview Road are being damaged constantly.
THE SOLUTION
Working with Northland Regional Council, Transfield Services and local body groups, a solution was devised to rebuild and improve the main entrance to Baylys Beach via Seaview Road. A sand dune stabilization plan was implemented and installed to repair and reduce coastal erosion while encouraging vegetation growth.
This project has been successful with zero reduction in the sand dunes and new vegetation growth appearing.
